I might have actually kept reading if this was the case :T Imagine the LOVE INTERESTS.

I tried giving Bakuman a chance, but I had no interest in the stuff that goes into writing a shonen manga, also the contrived love interest bullshit (“WE AREN’T GOING TO LOOK AT EACH OTHER OR SPEAK FACE TO FACE UNTIL MY MANGA BECOMES AN ANIME AND YOU ARE A VOICE ACTRESS FOR THAT ANIME AND THEN WE’LL GET MARRIED” or something) really felt out of place even for a slice of life.

If it centred on some chicks writing shoujo, it would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE and I would be reading that shit right the fuck now.

I feel like my warrior princesses should look like they are both warriors and princesses and in Starfire’s case; are from space.

Maybe I’m just trying to fill the Barda shaped hole in my continuity.

Okay, so I like this series, but these new covers are starting to piss me off.

I love Amanda Conner and Becky Cloonan, they’re just doing their jobs, but having read the third issue I can tell you that it has absolutely jack shit to do with a sexy lady draped in an American flag wearing a Soviet ushanka.

You know what did happen in that issue? A man was threatened into leaving his family by a Soviet sleeper cell dead set on assassinating the president of the United States. It was a pretty quiet issue, but it was good, and I was sorely disappointed in seeing the cover they chose for it. 

I LOVED the first two covers, even if the second had some cheesy text slapped over it, I picked this series up because of the cover and the title, clearly it’s about some Soviet era intrigue stuff, the first issue had an old Russian lady not taking any crap from increasingly threatening interrogators and finished with a severed limb, it was bad-ass, I wanted more. I wanted more awesome covers too but no, I get some lowest common denominator bullshit from a series I expected more from, a series that actually treated it’s female characters no differently than their male characters.

I’d like to keep supporting this series, but I swear to god if there isn’t at least a chick in a bikini somewhere in this issue to halfway justify this latest cover, I may have some reconsidering to do.
